Do Not Drive on May 18th

No Driving Day

I was having a conversation in an airport with a few people about the environment, oil prices and if one person can really make a difference. I’m here to say I think I can make a difference and in only 40 days.

My goal is to have one day where people don’t drive. That day is May 18th!! I’m asking everyone in the world to not drive a vehicle on that day. The only way to show the oil companies and government that we won’t deal with $4 gas is to not buy or use any. If the entire world doesn’t use gas on a day the financial hit for all of the oil businesses would be huge!!

All prices go up when the price of gas goes up. Not only are we paying more at the pump, we pay more for groceries, heat, and every basic thing in life. Exxon made $40 billion last year, that is $109 million a day, and that is only one company!!! If we take $109 million in profits from them, they will notice!! And just think of all the carbon emissions that won’t be sent into the air.

Help me make a difference, by not driving on May 18th

Here is a list of things that you can do instead of driving:

-Walk or bike to a local restaurant
-Have the neighbors over for a cookout
-Walk to a park
-Watch some movies
-Get you lawn ready for the summer
-Get those things done around the house that you have been putting off
-Spring cleaning
-Researching hybrid cars or bio diesels you can use
-Learn more about the oil crises
-Play a game of Tennis or Basketball

I would be adding to this list but if you have any other great ideas please email at donotdriveday@hotmail.com
